The Sirius star system
Samara was born on Earth, but unknown to her she is actually a hybrid. Her father, Benjamin, is an earthman, but her mother, Anarai’Ro, comes from a planet in the Sirius star system. Aliens from their world may have been the ones that made contact with the Dogons, a group of people living in the central plateau region of Mali. On her homeworld there exists four tribes based on the 4 fundamental forces of the universe: gravity, magnetism, strong and weak nuclear forces. The leaders of these tribes are natural manipulators these forces and are therefore charged with governing and protecting their people. These tribes are also separated by sexes. The ability to control gravity and strong nuclear forces is passed through the female line, these tribes are composed of females. Electromagnetic and weak nuclear forces is passed through the male line, therefore these tribes are all males. These groups hold power over the world, but also help to maintain harmony during cosmic/planetary chaos storms. Their societies aren’t perfect and there are under classes of people that are enslaved by these races. They are known as the Psions.
The Psions were a group of mystics with limited psychic abilities. Some of them practiced dark magics and often used their abilities to dominate the wills of others. During the war with the Psions tribal kings and queens were sent away for fear their powers would be manipulated by the Psions. This is how Anarai’Ro came to Earth.
Benjamin was a very down to earth man. A mechanic who loved working with his hands. He saw Anarai and it was love at first sight. The feeling was not mutual. Eventually his affections won her over. Ben always though Ana (she shortened her name) should have been a science fiction writer, not believing the stories she told of her world. He thought she was teasing him. He was fascinated by how intelligent and independent she was. Ana was touched by how tender someone so strong could be. They formed a bond and Samara was born.
Like most gravity controllers Samara exhibited her powers around the age of 3, using them to play with her building blocks or knock down her dollhouse. Many a dollhouse was wrecked. By this time Ben was convinced Ana’s stories were not fiction. Around this time rumors about meta-humans began to surface. Ben and Ana were very strict with Samara, teaching her to never display her abilities in public.
Once the war was over Anarai had to return home to lead her people. Benjamin could not go with her. He was a male and would not be allowed into her tribe. Samara could not go with her mother either, she was a half breed and would not be accepted as a true blood. It was a tragic separation for mother and child. Anarai’Ro was devastated, but knew she had to return without her daughter. Her people needed her. Putting her peoples’ needs above her child’s was the hardest decision she had ever made. Now raising her as a single father, Ben made the mistake of trusting the wrong person about his daughter. Samara was kidnapped and handed over to a group called the Firm.
The Firm
The Firm, a group seeking ultimate wealth and power, had been gaining notoriety because of the viciousness of their assassins. They were known for knocking off world leaders, businessman, pretty much anyone who can interfere with their quest for power.
Samara was drawn in by the decadent lifestyle, power, and material wealth the Firm had to offer. Dimitri, one of the leaders of the firm, trained assassins in hand to hand combat techniques and the use of weapons. She was a quick study, becoming one of their top operatives. Vixen trained Samara to use her sexuality as a weapon. Seduction can be as deadly as any gun or knife. This allowed Samara to get even closer to her targets. As powerful as Samara was, she didn’t feel safe. Her feelings about the Firm started to change. Reports of an assassin with the ability to control gravity came to the attention of General Starke. He thwarts her attempt to assassinate an ambassador at a peace summit and captures her. He shows her a different side to life and changes her view of the world.
The Strand: Year One
General Starke has shown Samara that those of us with power have a responsibility to help others. Samara learns to use her powers to save lives, not take them. One of her first assignments with the General was to shut down the awakening project and place the scientists in charge of the project in protective custody. The life she leads now is ten times more rewarding than her life with the Firm. When not on missions with the Strand, Samara is a student at a fashion and design school.
Powers and abilities
Gravity is the result of the fact that objects exist in fluid space. Space exhibits the properties of a fluid substance, such as water and any object that exists within this fluid substance is subject to the properties of the substance. Fluid space has no directional motion, thus it moves in all directions at the same rate. Terrestria manipulates gravity through tiny particles called gravitic ions. These ions would be synonymous to the positive and negative charges within the atom. Since gravity is the flow of space she can use these gravitic ions to bend space, thus affecting the objects within that space. She can use objects as projectiles by lifting and propelling them forward. Terrestria can distort gravity such that objects or people are suspended in mid-air or pinned to the ground or ceiling. Terrestria can create anit-gravity fields allowing her and others to fly. Although she prefers the comfort of a jet, General Starke has clocked her highest speed at about 200 mph.
Gravitational radiation: General Starke has taught Samara to use her gravity controlling abilities in ways she hadn’t learned in the Firm. One of which is to focus the gravitic ions into a beam of gravitational radiation, which has varying effects. If can act as a type of concussive force blast, generating enough g-force to cause a person to blackout, pulverize or stop the motion of objects. She can also use it as a tractor beam to bring objects or people to her. Focusing gravitic ions takes great control and can be very taxing on Terrestria physically.
Gravity shield: Terrestria has also learned how to use gravity to shield herself and others. By compacting the space around her she creates gravity shields that are capable of deflecting projectiles. The strength of the shields are limited by how closely she can compact space.
Aside from her ability to control gravity, Terrestria has martial arts training and is skilled in both classical and modern weaponry. Her favorite weapons are the sai blades. She is trained in various espionage techniques and has some field experience utilizing various medical techniques.
